Solving the “Green” Problem
Its trendy now to talk about saving the environment. Everything is going ‘green’ or ‘environment-friendly’. All of a sudden everyone jumped on the recycle and conserve bandwagon. Why now? I heard an expert say once that if the environment was truly being abused as they say, it would let us know in drastic ways. Ever since the temperature has been cool all spring and summer, I dont hear much from the global warming camp. Granted the lower temperatures are no indication that global warming doesnt exist, but it sure has cooled that whole group.
Even though the green movement seems to be so prevalent, I do believe it has been slowed by the poor economy. Green products cost more and consumers have less discretionary dollar to buy these green products. When it comes down to buying environmentally safe napkins or being able to go see a movie, consumers will choose the movie.
Anyway, I have the solution to the whole green thing. The newspaper concept is dying. People no longer wait until they get home to read the paper. The news is available all day on their computer, newsfeeds on the phone, cable tv 24 hour news, and the news can even be customized through RSS feeds and other options. So why read a big bulky paper. Costs are up to produce the paper. Advertisers dont want to advertise there anymore. What was once the best value around is now being elbowed out by technology.
So that solves the problem of the environment. Imagine there not being any newspapers anymore. Thats a lot less trash. Problem solved – by me
